Danny Clifford was born in London's colourful East End. Moving on, he spent a few years in Redbridge, Essex, before moving to North West London. He first developed an interest in photography when he joined a film group at school run by his most influential teacher Terry Bolas. Whilst at school Danny was often at concerts photographing bands like Yes, Lou Reed & of course Gary Glitter (whatever happened to him?). Danny later went on to study photography at Barnet Art College and then on to Harrow Technical College, Westminster University.Danny's first job was working for Fox Photos in Farringdon, London, as a messenger. He was soon promoted to assistant photographer to the four directors of the company. Danny was also continuing to photograph musicians and various artists in his spare time. He soon started to make a name for himself by getting his work regularly published in the UK's music press, Melody Maker, Sounds and NME as well as more conventional publication s, such as The Daily Mirror and the London Evening Standard. He was also getting his work published around the world in publications like Cream, Circus, Rolling Stone Magazine, Time, Hitkrant plus many others. In the mid 70's Danny became a freelance photographer and it wasn't long before he found himself touring with and photographing some of the worlds biggest artists. Bob Dylan, The Who, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, Paul McCartney & Wings, Status Quo, Tom Petty, Rory Gallagher, The Sex Pistols, Madness, The Cars, Squeeze, Boomtown Rats, Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry, Ted Nugent, Styx, Lou Reed, Dire Straights, Peter Frampton, Jethro Tull, Cheap Trick, James Brown, Climax Blues Band, Simple Minds, John Miles, Alice Cooper, Elton John, Thin Lizzy, Frankie Miller, Paul Carrack, Yes, Iron Maiden, Sam Moore, Michael Bolton, Joe Cocker, Joan Baez plus many others, becoming good friends with many of them along the way. In the late seventies Danny was asked to tour with Bob Dylan in the US. after which he moved his base from London to New York City and then over to Los Angeles, California. Danny is now currently based between London and Los Angeles, California. |
